ACCESSIBLE

TESTING

We offer rapid point-of-care HIV and syphilis testing with results in just 15 minutes using a simple finger stick. If the test result is reactive (preliminary positive), a confirmatory blood test is required. This can typically be done at AR Health or through a local laboratory. AIDS Resource provides a range of services for individuals who receive positive test results. Please go to Connect to Care and Client Services to learn more.

Another convenient testing option is home-based HIV testing. You have the option to have an HIV self-testing kit mailed directly to you or pick it up at one of our offices. Either way, this service is provided free of charge. Click here to see if HIV self-testing is right for you.

Chlamydia and gonorrhea testing are available. Testing is simple—a urine sample is obtained for individuals with a penis, while a self-collected vaginal swab is preferred for individuals with a vagina. Point-of-care testing provides results in about 30 minutes. If you test positive, on-site antibiotic treatment is available. Depending on your sexual practices, additional testing, such as throat and rectal swabs, may be recommended.

We also offer hepatitis C testing. It takes approximately 15 minutes to receive test results from a finger stick test. If your rapid test is positive, we will schedule an appointment with our physician or refer you to a local specialist for further assessment and treatment.

All testing is confidential. We accept health insurance, but it is not required. Free or low-cost testing options are available. If you are uninsured, the type of tests offered and the time to receive results may vary, but we will work with you to ensure you receive the care you need. Testing is available by appointment only.

ADDITIONAL

PREVENTIVE SERVICES

In addition to testing, we offer a range of preventive services to help protect your sexual health, such as PrEP (pre-exposure prophylaxis), PEP (post-exposure prophylaxis), and DoxyPEP (doxycycline post-exposure prophylaxis). We accept health insurance for PrEP, and if you don't have insurance, we can help connect you with options to cover your care.

We also provide free condoms, dental dams, and lubricants to support safer sex practices.

EMPOWERMENT

REPRODUCTIVE HEALTH SERVICES

We provide gynecological services and contraception management to support your reproductive health.

We also offer free menstrual products, pregnancy tests, emergency contraception, and over-the-counter birth control to Pennsylvania residents. You do not need to be a patient to access these free products.
